Infrastructural Facilities

Established in the year 1967, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Bokaro Steel City, is a premier centre of education in Bokaro Distt., Jharkhand. Functioning under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, the vidyalaya was founded under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalya Sangathan. It falls under the civil sector and strives to fulfill the educational requirement of Central Government employees and others on priority basis. Sharing with other Kendriya Vidyalayas all over India certain characteristic features, it is a miniature India, endeavouring to foster and develop in young minds feelings of national integration and universal brotherhood.

The Vidyalaya is centrally located in sector IV of the city and is conveniently accessible. The structure of the vidyalaya stands on a 15 – acre campus, with facilities like AC- Computer rooms, excellently maintained playfields, gardens and a wide, spacious auditorium for students’ co-curricular and other activities.
In the city of Bokaro the vidyalaya has the distinguished position of a model institution, having over one thousand and seven hundred students getting progressive education. The vidyalaya comprises three streams at +2 Level: Science, Commerce and Humanities. It has pioneered the concept of using computers as a medium for enhancing learning outcomes. Computer education has been made compulsory right from Class III  to Class X .  Class rooms,Science Labs,Computer Lab.,Library,Office room.Other rooms (the room size to be specified) available in campus. (840X840)=02 (650X650)=01& (450X450)=44 class rooms.(Science Lab.43X20 ft., Computer Lab.42X22ft.,Library 41X24ft,Office 28X13ft,Principal room 15X11ft,V.P Room 16X12ft.) School building has been provided by the BSL.

The students at +2 level have the facility of opting Computer Science/Information Practices as an elective subject.   Multimedia Learning, Internet and E-mail facilities make information technology and on-line communication easily accessible to the students. There is a separate computer lab attached to the staff room for teachers.
It has well equipped Bio., Physics, Chemistry , Junior Science and Maths labs. It has a well furnished resource room where electronic devices are available for the benefit of children. The vidyalaya emphasises the holistic development of children by fostering a synergistic blend between scholastic and co-scholastic achievements. This is why a host of co-curricular and extra curricular activities find a rightful place in the vidyalaya curriculum. In Sports and Games students have displayed commendable enthusiasm.
